Both bikes run the same 349cc J-series engine with the same power output. The real differences are in weight, geometry, and what kind of riding each one suits.
The Hunter is the newer, lighter model — about 181 kg vs the Classic's 195 kg. It has a shorter wheelbase, a tighter turning radius, and a more upright riding position. In city traffic and on the coastal roads around Vizag, it handles noticeably better. It's also less intimidating for riders stepping up from a 150cc for the first time — the weight difference, while modest on paper, makes a meaningful difference when you're navigating junctions or doing a U-turn on a narrow lane.
The Hunter suits: city riding, Beach Road, day trips to Kailasagiri, Bhimli, Yarada, and anyone riding a Royal Enfield for the first time.
The Classic is heavier, longer, and built around a more relaxed, laid-back riding position. On a 120 km stretch to Araku Valley, that riding position becomes an advantage — your back stays comfortable, your arms aren't cramped, and the bike settles into a steady, confident cruise that smaller bikes simply can't match. The pillion seat is also noticeably better than the Hunter's — if you're riding with a passenger over long distances, the Classic is the more considerate choice.
The Classic suits: long rides to Araku, Lambasingi, or Borra Caves, multi-day trips, experienced riders, couples, and anyone who wants the full cruiser experience.

This is the most common question we get, and the honest answer is: it depends on what you've ridden before.
If you're comfortable on a 150cc — a Pulsar, a Gixxer, a Dominar — the transition to a Royal Enfield is manageable. The power delivery is smooth and linear, not aggressive. The engine never feels like it's trying to get away from you. The main adjustment is the weight and the footprint of the bike. Royal Enfields are wider and heavier than most 150cc machines, and that takes a short while to get used to at low speeds and in traffic.
Our suggestion: before you head out onto the main road, spend 10–15 minutes in a quieter stretch — a parallel lane, a colony road — just getting a feel for the weight and the brakes. The braking distance on a 350cc is longer than a scooter, and that's something worth calibrating to before you're in traffic.
If you're upgrading from a scooter and have never ridden a geared bike before, a Royal Enfield is not the right starting point. A Hero HF Deluxe or Bajaj Pulsar would be a better first step.
The Eastern Ghats highway between Vizag and Araku is the defining Royal Enfield route in this part of the country. The ghat section — roughly 60 km of tight curves, steep climbs, and sudden drops into deep valleys — is where the Royal Enfield's low-end torque earns its money. A scooter or 150cc can technically make this trip. A Royal Enfield makes it enjoyable. Plan to leave by 6 AM, stop at Ananthagiri Hills on the way up, and return before dark.
Known as the Kashmir of Andhra Pradesh, Lambasingi sits at around 1,000 metres above sea level and gets genuinely cold — sometimes below 10°C in December and January. The route beyond Chintapalli is where it gets demanding: narrow, winding roads through dense forest, with a few sections that require patience and control. The Classic 350 handles this route with authority. If you're going in winter, pack a jacket — you'll need it at the top.
Not technically demanding, but the Royal Enfield on the coastal road at sunrise is a different experience entirely. The sound carries differently in the open air. The pace feels deliberate. It's the kind of ride you remember. Best done on the way back from somewhere rather than as the only plan for the day.
Past the Gosthani river gorge and deep into the Araku valley, Borra is one of the most dramatic natural sites in Andhra Pradesh. The route follows the Araku highway and then branches off into terrain that rewards a bigger engine. Go on a weekday if you can — weekends at the caves can get crowded.
A valid two-wheeler driving licence and one government photo ID (Aadhaar, Passport, or Voter ID). International visitors need a valid passport and an International Driving Permit. Royal Enfield is not classified as a heavy vehicle, so no special endorsement is required.
